Logan Heights CDC Financing

Bordered by I-5 to the west and south, I-15 to the east, and I-94 to the north, the Greater Logan Heights neighborhood represents five small sub-communities of San Diego. Each with a unique history and experience, Memorial, Sherman, Grant Hill, Stockton, and Logan represent approximately 27,000 residents and a rich world of vibrant culture. Despite the lively neighborhoods, Logan Heights can appear somewhat dilapidated and residents face a lack of resources on many fronts. The area has witnessed tremendous change since the 1950s when it was predominantly home to Caucasian and African American populations (58% and 38% respectively). Today the population is primarily Spanish-speaking (85%), with much smaller numbers of African Americans (8%) and Caucasians (6%).

Logan Heights Community Development Corporation (CDC) exists to strengthen residents and businesses in Greater Logan Heights neighborhoods through community empowerment, education, economic growth, and housing development. By offering a variety of services to residents and businesses like the Future Achievers Preschool, Career Financial Advancement Center, Small Business Development, Community Health, and Community Engagement programs, Logan Heights CDC is able to develop and implement tangible, sustainable solutions that can improve lives for the better.

In December of 2021, the California Enterprise Development Authority (CEDA) approved a $4 million tax-exempt financing deal with Logan Heights CDC to make improvements to office and program facilities. This deal through CEDA finances and refinances the costs of acquisition and improvement of property that is operated by Logan Heights CDC. This low-cost financing allows the organization to devote savings to the programs and services that they deliver to their communities.
